MASTER MECHANIC LEADER
Pay Grade A17
Under moderate supervision, performs complex troubleshooting and preventive and remedial maintenance of transit vehicles and provides training and assistance to lower level mechanics in identifying and resoling complex vehicular defects. |
Master Mechanic Leader is an Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) expert-level position. It differs from the Mechanic "A" (ATU) in that a Mechanic "A" performs troubleshooting and preventive and remedial maintenance of transit vehicles while a Master Mechanic Leader performs Mechanic "A" work, as well as diagnoses complex mechanical problems and instructs mechanic personnel in diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems with buses, other heavy equipment and related systems and subsystems. The Master Mechanic Leader is also responsible for providing clear and detailed reports concerning investigative testing, findings and recommendations for individual bus or fleet problems. The Master Mechanic Leader who, in addition to the regular Master Mechanic duties, is responsible for assigning duties and directing employees in the performance of their work under the supervision of his/her immediate supervisor with whom he/she shall consult in all matters affecting such work. A Leader receives one dollar ($1.00) per hour additional pay for all time worked. |
