ROVING JANITOR LEADER
Pay Grade A23
Basic Function
Under close supervision, cleans and stocks the restroom facilities at bus layover zones while leading Roving Janitors by assigning work and providing training. |
Classification Characteristics
Roving Janitor is an Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) journey-level position. It differs from the Roving Janitor Leader (ATU) in that a Roving Janitor cleans and stocks the restroom facilities at bus layover zones while a Roving Janitor Leader oversees and coordinates the daily activities of a group of Roving Janitors and assigns tasks within a work crew. The Roving Janitor Leader communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures and maintains accountability for the safety of assigned employees. A Leader receives additional pay for each hour worked as stipulated by the appropriate collective bargaining agreement. |

Examples of Duties
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms

Sweeps and washes floors and sidewalks

Hauls trash to nearest division for dumping

Loads truck with cleaners, soap, toilet paper, and paper towels and informs supervisor when stock is low

Stocks restroom facilities with supplies

Notifies supervisor of facility deficiencies

Leads employees by assigning work and providing training

Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Essential Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Methods and materials utilized in custodial work

Vehicle operations and safety

Ability to:

Minimum Qualifications
Potential candidates interested in the ROVING JANITOR LEADER position MUST meet
the following requirements:
- 1 year of full-time experience performing custodial work

Valid California Class C drivers license
|
Special Conditions
- Must wear required safety equipment whenever on duty

Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
