TRANSIT SECURITY OFFICER II
Pay Grade T05
Basic Function
Under moderate supervision, provides security for Metro employees and property. |
Classification Characteristics
Differs from Sr. Transit Security Officer in that Sr. Transit Security Officer is an armed, non-sworn classification with training and lead responsibilities while Sr. Transit Security Officer II is an armed, non-sworn classification without training or lead responsibilities. Differs from Transit Security Officer I in that Transit Security Officer I is unarmed and assigned to one work location while Transit Security Officer II is an armed position and may travel to several locations. |

Examples of Duties
- Patrols, monitors, and safeguards Metro property and buildings

Ensures safety of Metro employees

Observes and reports on security and safety problems

Monitors handling of Metro monies at Cash Counting office and Ticket Offices

Escorts vault truck drivers during pick-up of monies from various Metro divisions
-
Writes memos regarding incidents of suspicious activity and vandalism occurring on Metro property
-
Keeps written log of daily activities
-
Directs visitors to desired Metro locations
-
Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Knowledge of:

Minimum Qualifications
Potential candidates interested in the TRANSIT SECURITY OFFICER II position MUST meet
the following requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
-
Uncorrected vision: no more than 20/70 in both eyes; normal color vision

Valid California Class C drivers license
-
1 year of experience as a security guard preferred
-
Must be able to obtain a valid California Guard Card issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs
-
Must be able to obtains a valid Firearm Permit issued by the department of Consumer Affairs

Special Conditions
- Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required

Must have normal color vision

Must pass background investigation and psychological evaluation
- Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations
