Basic Function
Under moderate supervision, performs basic clerical duties, types, prints, and maintains complex departmental records as requested by supervisors and/or management in Instruction. |
Classification Characteristics
The classification does not perform the job duties of the Transit Operations Supervisor (TOS/RTOS) and/or Stenographers. |

Examples of Duties
- Receives and distributes interoffice mail in the Instruction Department

Files completed hard copy documents pertaining to Customer Relations in the appropriate location

Prints out HR Department reports

Maintains confidentiality of documents received and processed

Develops and maintains filing systems, records, and logs
-
Operates personal computer or computer terminal to perform data entry related work

Assists with the creation and organization of accident packets for the Accident Review Board (ARB) process as requested

Disassembles closed accident/incident packets
-
Inputs and maintains information regarding line rides by Instuctors as requested
-
Posts and maintains information on bulletin boards in the division as required
-
Assists with tracking division compliance for license renewal (license, medical card, VTT,etc)

Assists Bus Operators with computer log in to non-VTT training and other computer related tasks

Performs clerical and filing work in Instruction Department as required

Assists with notifying operators with identified issues/violations to contact the Instruction Department and/or Division Management

Makes copies of any required video and/or audio recordings

Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of Metros safety rules, policies, and procedures

Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Essential Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- General office practices and procedures

Correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Ability to:
- Follow oral and written instructions

Type 45 net words per minute

Prepare basic correspondence, run simple reports and maintain complex records

Operate word processing equipment and/or computer terminal

Proofread work and identify errors

File materials alphabetically, numerically, and chronologically

Deal tactfully and effectively with the public and other Metro staff

Read, write, speak, and understand English

Minimum Qualifications
Potential candidates interested in the TRANSPORTATION CLERK position MUST meet
the following requirements:
- 1 year of experience performing clerical and public contact duties

Special Conditions
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds may be required for some assignments
- Valid California Class C drivers license may be required for some positions
|
