ROAD JANITOR

Basic Function
| Under close supervision, cleans and stocks the restroom facilities at bus layover zones. |
Classification Characteristics
| Road Janitor is an Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) journey-level position. It differs from the Road Janitor Leader (ATU) in that a Road Janitor cleans and stocks the restroom facilities at bus layover zones while a Road Janitor Leader oversees and coordinates the daily activities of a group of Road Janitors and assigns tasks within a work crew. The Road Janitor Leader communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures and maintains accountability for the safety of assigned employees. A Leader receives additional pay for each hour worked as stipulated by the appropriate collective bargaining agreement. |

Examples of Duties
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms

Sweeps and washes floors and sidewalks

Hauls trash to nearest division for dumping

Loads truck with cleaners, soap, toilet paper, and paper towels and informs supervisor when stock is low

Stocks restroom facilities with supplies

Notifies supervisor of facility deficiencies

Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Minimum Qualifications
Potential candidates interested in the ROAD JANITOR position MUST meet
the following requirements:
- 1 years’ full-time experience performing custodial work
-
Valid California Class C driver’s license
|
Special Conditions
- Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
