MASTER MECHANIC
Pay Grade A31
Under moderate supervision, performs complex troubleshooting and preventive and remedial maintenance of transit vehicles and provides training and assistance to lower level mechanics in identifying and resolving complex vehicular defects. |
Master Mechanic is an Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) expert-level position. It differs from the Mechanic "A" (ATU) in that a Mechanic "A" performs troubleshooting and preventive and remedial maintenance of transit vehicles while a Master Mechanic performs Mechanic "A" work, as well as diagnoses complex mechanical problems and instructs mechanic personnel in diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems with buses, other heavy equipment and related systems and subsystems. The Master Mechanic is also responsible for providing clear and detailed reports concerning investigative testing, findings and recommendations for individual bus or fleet problems. |
