MAIL AND DUPLICATING CLERK

Basic Function
Under moderate supervision, sorts, opens, date stamps, photocopies, and distributes mail and other materials. |
Classification Characteristics
Differs from Mail Carrier in that Mail and Duplicating Clerk makes copies of various documents in addition to processing and distributing departmental mail, while Mail Carrier picks up and delivers Metro and U.S. mail to various Metro locations. |

Examples of Duties
- Sorts, opens, date stamps, and distributes mail

Operates photocopy machines and duplicate materials

Files invoices, packing slips, and purchase orders

Files correspondence, reports, and close of file memoranda
-
Orders and maintains inventory of stationary and printing supplies
-
Assists in monitoring the paper feeding, inking, and folding processes of press operation
-
Loads and unloads stock of paper before, during, and after production
-
Receives and ties finished materials from large presses and places them in boxes for shipment
-
Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Essential Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- General office practice and procedures

- File materials alphabetically, chronologically, and numerically

Operate reproduction equipment utilized in assignment

Minimum Qualifications
Potential candidates interested in the MAIL AND DUPLICATING CLERK position MUST meet
the following requirements:
- 6 months experience performing general clerical duties

Valid California Class C drivers license
|
Special Conditions
- 6 months experience performing press-related duties and ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required for some assignments
