Classification Characteristics
Differs from Clerk in that Clerk (Stops & Zones) performs work specific to the Stops and Zones function while Clerk performs work specific to the department assigned. |

Examples of Duties
- Types, prints, and files reports, letters, memos, and forms using a typewriter or a personal computer

Answers telephone calls and inquiries from Metro staff and/or the public regarding departmental policies and procedures and related matters

Acts as office receptionist

Operates a personal computer or computer terminal to enter revise, and recall information

Maintains personal computer divisional data bases of work performed & hazards reported

Operates a laser printer to produce reports and copy machine to make copies
-
Assembles printouts for review by departmental representatives
-
Checks various documents such as purchase requisitions and purchase orders for completeness and accuracy of information provided
-
Maintains and updates records such as operator restrooms, vendors lists, ATU seniority rosters, work status boards, batch reports, purchase orders, and requisitions

Composes routine correspondence in relation to assigned tasks; proofreads work
-
Prepares stop lists, operator restroom facility lists, and Transportation Zone Notices; proofreads work

Records, tracks and monitors customer relations complaints requiring replies

Opens, date stamps, and distributes mail

Monitors and orders office supplies
-
Operates Metro vehicle to pick up and deliver reports and other materials as required

Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Essential Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- General office practices and procedures

Correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Complex recordkeeping

Personal computer programs such as Windows 95, Word, Wordperfect and Dbase

Ability to:
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions and procedures

Communicate effectively with others

Type 40 net words per minute

Prepare correspondence and reports and maintain complex records

Operate word processing equipment and/or computer terminal

Proofread work and identify errors

Read, write, speak, and understand English

Minimum Qualifications
Potential candidates interested in the CLERK/STOPS AND ZONES position MUST meet
the following requirements:
- 1 year of experience performing clerical and public contact duties
