Examples of Duties
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates Metro financial, audit or collection records on a regular basis

Assists in performing month-end and year-end closing activities

Assists in the preparation of journal entries

Assists accountants by providing supporting documents and other related materials

Reviews purchase orders for accuracy
-
Prepares invoices and invoice-related documents and reviews Accounts Receivable statements
-
Establishes, maintains, and updates work orders and expedites payment of invoices according to relevant terms and conditions

Discusses past due accounts with outside vendors and arranges payment to bring account current
-
Assists in analyzing state, federal, and Metro accounting and reporting requirements and implements appropriate accounting procedures

Assists in the development of accounting, credit and collection systems, procedures, policies, and manuals

Performs special projects as required

Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

- Theories, principles, and practices of governmental accounting, business finance, and financial recordkeeping

Minimum Qualifications
Potential candidates interested in the ACCOUNTING ASST. position MUST meet
the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree - Accounting OR 4 years' experience performing support work in accounting department or collecting past due receivables

Experience as outlined above may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
